Gears - Sunrise in the DesertGears – Sunrise in the desert Pale light blossomed on the east against the blackened sky. The light shone through the thin canvas of the tent walls, illuminated the corners that the oil lamp could not reach. Dust swirled in the strands of gold that wove through the tent flap, falling upon the Captain’s face. She stirred, furred ears twitching. In the city, she had awoken to the sound of birds and the scent of vehicle exhaust. Here, she awoke to the sound of troop inspections and gunpowder.
